Ask a Question
Can I use photoelectric detectors outdoors?
Our photoelectric detectors are not suitable for use in outdoor or semi-outdoor environments.
The reason for a photoelectric detector not being suitable for outdoor use does not depend on the product's IP protection index.
Drops of water falling on the lens cause the beam to disperse, resulting in the product malfunctioning.
Frost and sunlight can also lead to malfunctions.
If outdoor operation is chosen, then thru-beam type systems should be used in preference, protected from the rain and the sun (using protective covers for example, without disturbing the beam).
A large Excess gain thru-beam cell could be used, part number XU2M18AP20D with 24 V DC power supply (or possibly LASER).
Whatever the type of photoelectric device used outdoors, we cannot guarantee 100% correct operation.
If this system is used, do not install cells on flexible structures.
