Ask a Question

In Vijeo Citect can Server and Client be of different version.

Yes while configuring the Server Client architecture it is possible to have Sever and Client of different version.
It is recommended to have the Server be of greater version than that of Client to serve all the requested data from
Client. But if we use the older version of Server than that of Client, Client will be asking for additional information that
was not available in the older version of Server and it could lead to incorrect information or can crash.
When Version 7.20 is used as Server in Server Client architecture then it is recommended that Client should not have the
Version less than 7.00 to display the alarm properties correctly. To allow Vijeo Citect to accept the connection from its earlier
version we need to setup the some parameter of Citect configuration file (Citect.INI file) in Server configuration.
[LAN]AllowLegacyConnections to allow the connection from Earlier Version of Citect. (Applicable upto Version 7.10 of Vijeo Citect)

[LAN]EarliestLegacyVersion to Specify the minimum legacy version from which the current version will accept
connections. (Applicable to Version equal to or greater than Version 7.20).
